The terms and conditions governing your use of V.TECH services

1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to V.TECH. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our technical services marketplace platform, including our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Platform. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Definitions
- "User" refers to any individual or entity accessing or using the Platform
- "Customer" refers to users who request technical services
- "Technician" refers to certified service providers registered on our Platform
- "Services" refers to technical services provided by Technicians through the Platform
- "Booking" refers to a service request made by a Customer
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1 Eligibility
To use the Platform, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
3.2 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach. V.TECH is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account.
3.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activities.
4. Platform Services
4.1 Marketplace Function
V.TECH operates as a marketplace connecting Customers with Technicians. We facilitate bookings, payments, and communications but do not directly provide technical services. The actual services are performed by independent Technicians.
4.2 Service Categories
Our Platform supports the following service categories:
- Electrical installations and repairs
- Smart home automation and IoT setup
- HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning)
- Plumbing services
- General home maintenance and repairs
4.3 Platform Availability
We strive to maintain Platform availability 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect service availability.
5. Booking and Service Delivery
5.1 Booking Process
- Customers select services and provide necessary details
- Email verification is required before booking confirmation
- Bookings are assigned to qualified Technicians based on availability and specialization
- Customers receive real-time updates on booking status via email and SMS
5.2 Service Agreement
By confirming a booking, the Customer and Technician enter into a direct service agreement. V.TECH is not a party to this agreement and is not responsible for service quality, completion, or disputes between parties.
5.3 Cancellation and Rescheduling
- Customer Cancellations: Free cancellation up to 24 hours before scheduled service. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee.
- Technician Cancellations: Technicians must provide reasonable notice. Excessive cancellations may result in account suspension.
- Rescheduling: Both parties may request rescheduling through the Platform with mutual agreement.
6. Payment Terms
6.1 Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Paystack, our third-party payment processor. V.TECH does not store complete credit card information.
6.2 Pricing and Fees
- Service prices are displayed before booking confirmation
- V.TECH charges a service fee on each transaction
- Additional costs (materials, emergency services) must be agreed upon before work begins
- All prices are in Nigerian Naira (NGN) unless otherwise specified
6.3 Payment Schedule
- Deposit: A deposit may be required upon booking confirmation
- Final Payment: Due upon service completion and Customer approval
- Payment Release: Funds are released to Technicians after successful service delivery
6.4 Refunds
Refund eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. Customers may request refunds for services not rendered or significantly below agreed standards. Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of service completion.
7. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
7.1 Acceptable Use
Users must:
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Treat all parties with respect and professionalism
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Protect the confidentiality of personal information
7.2 Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Fraudulent bookings or payment chargebacks
- Circumventing the Platform to arrange direct payments (off-platform transactions)
- Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior
- Impersonating other users or providing false credentials
- Unauthorized use of intellectual property
- Uploading malicious code or attempting to compromise Platform security
- Spamming, soliciting, or commercial advertising without permission
8. Technician Requirements and Obligations
8.1 Qualifications
Technicians must provide proof of relevant certifications, licenses, and insurance. V.TECH verifies credentials during registration but is not responsible for ongoing compliance.
8.2 Service Standards
- Provide services in a professional, safe, and timely manner
- Maintain appropriate insurance and licensing
- Communicate clearly with Customers about work scope and costs
- Respect Customer property and privacy
- Maintain a minimum rating of 3.5 stars to remain active
8.3 Independent Contractor Status
Technicians are independent contractors, not employees of V.TECH. They are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and compliance with labor laws.
9. Reviews and Ratings
After service completion, Customers may leave reviews and ratings for Technicians. Reviews must be honest, accurate, and based on actual experience. V.TECH reserves the right to remove reviews that violate our policies (e.g., offensive language, false claims, conflicts of interest).
Technicians may respond to reviews but cannot offer incentives for positive reviews or retaliate against negative feedback.
10. Intellectual Property
10.1 Platform Ownership
All content, features, and functionality of the Platform (including text, graphics, logos, software, and design) are owned by V.TECH and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
10.2 User Content License
By uploading content (photos, reviews, descriptions) to the Platform, you grant V.TECH a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and display such content for Platform operations and marketing purposes.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
11.1 Platform "As Is"
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. V.TECH does not guarantee that the Platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure.
11.2 Service Disclaimer
V.TECH is not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of services provided by Technicians. We do not guarantee that Technicians will complete work to your satisfaction or comply with applicable codes and regulations.
11.3 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, V.TECH shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or services obtained through it. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless V.TECH, its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Platform
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of third parties
- Services provided or received through the Platform
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Informal Resolution
If a dispute arises between you and V.TECH, we encourage you to first contact our customer support team to resolve the matter informally.
13.2 Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with Nigerian law. Each party shall bear its own costs unless the arbitrator determines otherwise.
13.3 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria. Any legal action arising from these Terms must be filed in the courts of Lagos, Nigeria.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or Platform notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Termination
Either party may terminate the relationship at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections related to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution shall survive termination.
16. Miscellaneous
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and V.TECH.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
16.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
